Campfire Hamburgers & Hotdogs
Campfire hamburgers and hot dogs are great
grilled in the backyard, just like a real camping experience!
- Prepare a low fire for cooking purposes.
- Prep your hamburgers just like you would when cooking Freedom Steak or other meats: just a little salt, pepper, garlic, or other spices. Avoid heavy marinades, as the high heat of a real campfire will burn any sugar in them.
- After the fire has burned down to almost no flame, spread out and level the coals. Place the grill rack on the container and let it warm up.
- Once the grill is warm, place the hamburgers on the grill and sear each side for a minute or so. The searing will bring out their succulent taste. Continue to cook the hamburgers to your preferred temperature. But be aware that the high heat of the coals will result in faster cooking.
- While cooking your hamburgers, throw on some hot dogs, making sure they don't roll off the grill if the ground isn't level! Using a clean rock or other fireproof barrier on the downhill side of the grill is the easiest way to prevent this. Hot dogs cook quickly, so remember not to burn them. You can also wait to cook your hot dogs until you've finished with your hamburgers and start up the fire again. A long stick about a 1/2-inch thick will do just great for cooking your hot dogs over a roaring campfire.

"The Freedom Campfire Ring is by far
the best fire container we've ever owned. We use it in our backyard
almost every weekend,
and sometimes during the week. Dinner inside is cozier when we
can see the glow of a fire in our FCR in the backyard."
