Campfire Breakfast
Start your morning with
a real campfire breakfast! Are you hungry?! Here’s
how…
- Prepare a low fire to
get a good bed of coals.
- Once the fire burns down low enough to place the
grill rack on it, get the grill rack in place and put
your
skillet on top.
- After the skillet heats up, you can
now cook up some flapjacks, eggs, meat, and potatoes
for all your hungry campers -- just about everything
you would cook on your stove at home!
Freedom Buttermilk Flapjacks
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
¼ teaspoon salt (optional)
1 Cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
1 egg lightly beaten
Combine dry ingredients. Add the rest of the ingredients to the center and stir until the batter is smooth. Pour onto a hot skillet in 7 inch size flapjacks. Flip over when the bubbles start to break through the top, approximately one minute per side. Makes up to 12. Optionally add some oatmeal or chopped nuts (substitute for some of the flour). Also add cinnamon, ginger, or Blueberries for flavor.

"I am a college student in Durango,
and my friend and I love to fire up the Freedom Campfire Container
when we have parties.
It adds a lot excitement to a gathering, and also gives people
a social point to gather around. Keeping a nice fire burning is
easy, freeing up more time for other activities."
